The feud that started the ball rolling for Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Elizabeth was the feud between Randy and George "The Animal" Steele. If you'll recall, George was simply fascinated with Elizabeth. He adored her. On the Saturday Night's Main Event prior to this event George had even kidnapped Elizabeth from ringside. This led to the match being featured here; Randy Savage vs. George Steele for the WWF Intercontinental Title AND Miss Elizabeth!

As Elizabeth was the "prize" for the match, she was given her own entrance and made to sit in a lifegaurd chair at ringside. After attacking George from behind, Randy quickly grabbed Elizabeth and began to escort her to the backstage area. Randy, however, was abruptly interrupted by Ricky Steamboat in the aisle. Ricky was able to force Randy back into the ring with George. The Animal had the upperhand during the beginning of the match but was distracted by his appetite for turnbuckles. This gave Randy his much needed opening as he delivered a high knee to the Animal's back. George eventually made a comeback and with the help of another turnbuckle, was able to temporarily blind Savage. Seeing this, George quickly got out of the ring and went for Elizabeth. Liz was helped down from her chair by George before Randy was able to attack the Animal from behind. With the help of the chair Liz was sitting on, Randy was able to gain the victory and retain not only the WWF Intercontinental Title, but Miss Elizabeth as well.
