Q) Miss Elizabeth, do you realize you are one of the most famous people in wrestling and no one knows your last name?
A) I don't know if I am one of the most famous people, but my last name is Hulette. I'm no longer "Miss Elizabeth". I'm just Elizabeth. When the Total Package and I did our rebirth we got rid of " Lex Luger" and the "Miss."
Q) What was the business like when you started?
A) When I first started in the business I was treated like royalty by the World Wrestling Federation. I'm very grateful to work with Randy (savage), Hulk (Hogan), and Ric Flair by standing in the background and listening and not pushing myself into the forefront of whatever was happening. I gained a lot of knowledge. Realizing that was probably what connected me to Lex (Luger) because we both go along and do what we are supposed to do. That's what has made us connect and bond and find mutual respect for each other.
Q) So a good manager is one who stays in the background?
A) I still don't intend to try and to take over. The Total Package is the star and I'm fortunate to be working with him.
Q) How have you remained so humble after working with such legends?
A) I think if you are just real honest and realistic about what this is, there is no way you could get a big inflated idea of yourself. It's a great job and it's a lot of fun. I come from a great family and they keep me grounded. I have terrific friends and nobody is going to let me get too full of myself.
Q) What is it like travelling all the time?
A) When Randy and I divorced there was a period of three or four years where I did maintain a normal life in Miami. I had a real job, but it was difficult. There's a part of you that sort of misses it. For as much as we complain, all of us, about the travelling, the schedules and the planes and all of that, there is something sort of special about it that is hard to let go. I suppose it's in my blood.
Q) When you came back to wrestling in 1995 after that time off, did your character change?
A) I wasn't really finished growing up. I was reacting a little and acting out maybe against Randy and not having a clear focus and idea of what I wanted as well. Right now I'm probably in the best time of my life- with work and my personal life. It's all coming together.
Q) How are you different from other female valets and managers?
A) There's obviously an audience for everything, especially the titillation of " let me show you what's under my top" approach. You will never see me in an evening gown match or anything like that where someone's going to rip my clothes off. I just don't think it's necessary. For those people that it works for, good for them.
Q) What do you think when someone calls you " The first lady of wrestling"?
A) I heard that the first time in the WWF when they decided to bring in a woman as a valet/manger. I'm certainly grateful to them for giving me a chance. It's been a roller coaster ride, but for the most of the part it's been a lot of fun.
Q) When you took time away from wrestling did you miss it?
A I didn't realize it until actually I got a call and somebody said, " What do you think about coming back to work?" I was so excited. I never thought I would come back to it. Because of my personal relationship with Randy, I didn't want to be involved if it would make him uncomfortable. Now we have a good relationship and he has a very sweet girlfriend. and we all get on very well.
Q) Have you considered writing a book about your experiences?
A) No, because I know so much about so many people that I would never want to say anything that someone might take the wrong way. These are the people I've had a lot of fun with and I've been through a lot of their pain. I've been married and divorced and it's not easy. I just wouldn't want to invade anybody's life like that by sharing secrets.
Q) Do you have a message for your fans?
A) I love you all.
